Top Olympian Inspires Girls to Go For Gold

Triple Olympic Silver Medallist, Katherine Grainger was the guest of honour at the recent South Est and Eastern Regionl lunch, hel at the Olympic rowing venue of Dorney Lake, Windsor.

Katherine is currently training for the forthcoming Olympic games but still found time to join the girls for a fun-packed lunch - after training fo course!President Vicky pPerry with Katherine Grainger

Guests were regaled with Katherine's humorous tales of er Olympic exploits and of how she got into rowing in the first place.  It seems her sister was spotted as the more talented but went on to become a lawyer instead.  Katherine is an inspiration to all women and to any budding sport's star, with her "never give up" attitude and her approach to everything she does.

Much as the guests enjoyed her speech, the real stars of the show were undoubtedly the three Olympic silver medals. At one point it looked as though they wouldn't make it back to their owner, as each woman just had to have her photo taken with the medals!Triple Olympic Silver medallist Katherine Grainger

As a fund raising event the lunch was a huge success, with £950 being donated to the local Air Ambulance Service, £400 to Katherine's chosen charity, Aberlour, and £100 to Ladies Circle National President Vicky Perry's charity, Parkinsons UK.

There was much laghter, friendship, fun and a little bit of retail therapy present in the room.  There were even two Ladies circle members sharing their birthday celebrations!  Isn't that what Ladies Circle is all about?
